The Government of Pakistan has decided to discontinue the issuance of Manual passports, therefore, all Pakistan nationals (at home and abroad) must obtain Machine Readable Passport (MRP).

Requirements

The requirements for issuance of Machine Readable Passport (MRP) are the following:-

  • In person appearance of the applicant is a must to process the passport.
  • Original valid National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and copies of both sides (in case of married ladies husband’s name must be on the identity card)
  • Original Pakistani previous passport along with photocopies of 1st and 2nd page.
  • Original valid alien card along with a copy of it.
  • For minors (under 18 years):
    • Presence of both parents is mandatory.
    • Following original and valid documents may be produced at the time of processing
      • NICOP/CRC/Form-B
      • S-1 Form (Birth Registration Certificate issued by the High Commission) or Birth Certificate issued by the Kenyan authorities
      • Parents’ NICOP/CNIC, alien cards and passports
  • In case the passport is LOST: Police report, mentioning number of previous passport, is required
  • In case the applicant’s NICOP/CNIC is expired, the applicant must apply for renewal of his/her NICOP/CNIC first at the following link:

Payment of Fee:

  • The High Commission offers the facility of making consular fees/payments, at a POS Terminal installed at the High Commission, through bank cards (VISA, MasterCard). However, the payments can also be deposited in the High Commission’s bank account after issuance of a voucher from the High Commission.
  • Cash payments are not accepted at the High Commission, in any case.

NOTE:

  • Please make sure that you have all the requisite documents before payment of the fee. Consular fee once deposited cannot be refunded.

Procedure

Applications for MRPs are accepted from Monday to Friday from 0900 hours to 1300 hours on open working days. Upon arriving consular hall of the High Commission, the applicant needs to present its documents to the Consular Assistant for processing. Once all the pre requisite formalities have been completed, the consular assistant would guide for further necessary action/ data capturing.  Upon completion of the procedure, a tracking number will be issued as a proof of passport processing.

General Instructions:

  • Only the renewal of Passport can be done online.
  • For the passport of a new-born child, the application can only be processed at the High Commission.
  • In case the applicants are below 18 years of age, they should be accompanied by parents/legal guardians, along with the latter’s original passport and its copy.
  • The father and mother will be required to sign at a form which will be provided by the High Commission at the time of application.
  • In case of Custodianship/Single Parent, please bring Original Court Order alongwith a photocopy of it.
  • Applicants’ thumbs and index fingers of both right and left hands should be without any indelible colouring e.g. ink or henna (mehndi), for proper fingerprints.
  • It is mandatory that both ears of the applicants are visible at the time of taking photographs.
  • Names of children cannot be included in the parent’s passport.
  • For applicants serving with the Government of Pakistan, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the parent department and Authorization from Directorate General of Immigration and Passports are mandatory.
  • In the case of Government Officer/Employee (Federal or Provincial departments of Pakistan/Autonomous/ Semi-Autonomous Departments/ Defence Forces), the applicant must bring the original NOC addressed to this Mission for Issuance of Passport by the competent Authority. The employees who have left Government service must bring their original Resignation Acceptance/ Service Termination Certificate.
  • If CNIC/NICOP is valid but the picture does not match your current facial features, please revise the picture on NICOP/CNIC prior to applying for MRP.
  • An appointment is mandatory in case of application for Diplomatic or Official Passports.

Delivery of Passport

The delivery period for normal passports is about 4 to 5 weeks, while urgent passports are delivered in 2 to 3 weeks approximately which includes shipment time from Islamabad to Nairobi. Applicants are advised to collect their new passports from the High Commission in person. Please confirm availability of Passport before coming to collect on the website tracking list. The applicants should bring their previous original passport and the token slip/receipt at the time of delivery. The new passports can be collected from Monday to Friday from 0900 to 1300 on open working days.

In case of any unavoidable circumstances whereby the applicant is unable to visit the High Commission in person, he/she can authorize a designated person who carries a signed authority letter from the applicant, his own identity, and the applicant’s previous passport to collect their passport on their behalf. The old passports will be stamped and both the passports (previous and new) will be handed over to the designated person/courier firm. This High Commission will not be responsible for any loss/damage of the passport(s) during the delivery process through designated person/courier/post.

Note:

Delivered Passport must be signed immediately in a box on page 2, as and when received. Passport will NOT be valid without signature or thumb impression of the passport holder.

Issuance of Passport in Lieu of Lost Passport

New passports in place of lost passports are issued only if the previous passport(s) has been verified. Applicants are advised to have their passports in safe custody so as to avoid loss of this important travel document. If the passport is lost for the third time, further renewal is subject to its approval from Directorate General Immigration and Passports, Islamabad.
